2018 Spring/Summer Trends

With the UK embracing this weeks heatwave, I thought it was only right to dedicate this post to my current favourite Spring/Summer trends and after a bit of an online splurge, I’ve found some great versatile pieces which I can’t wait to wear throughout the season.

If you didn’t notice already, then where have you been hiding, but straw bags are everywhere this Spring! They come in all shapes and sizes and have pretty much become everyone’s new favourite arm accessory. I’ve definitely jumped on the fashionable picnic bag bandwagon!

I certainly didn’t want to break the bank for a trend that may not be in next Summer so I was extremely happy when I spotted this one from Topshop, retailing at just £27 (unfortunately it did sell out pretty quickly so I’ve linked a similar version here). This bag evokes coastal vibes to me and adds a boho twist to any outfit. I’ve already had so much wear out of it and can’t wait to take this on an upcoming Summer vacay. Not only is it the perfect size to fit my necessities in but the circular shape adds a quirky dimension to a style which I love!

Is Summer even Summer if you don’t have a broderie anglaise item in your wardrobe? There’s something about broderie anglaise that takes me back to my childhood. It’s a simple, timeless style that looks so expensive and is a staple for my Spring/Summer wardrobe every year. What appears to be a dress, is actually a playsuit from Zara and I am in love. I have been wearing this non stop, and even picked it up in navy too. On cooler days I throw on a black leather jacket or an over-sized denim jacket, grab some white pumps and I’m good to go. It’s such an easy, classic piece to style and is a must have!

Usually I opt for a very neutral palette, but I thought I’d add a pop of colour into my wardrobe this season and with pastel blue being a big trend this Spring/Summer I thought I’d spice up my outfits a little.

This dress was the perfect choice to add colour without being too statement. The white  ditsy floral print helps tone down the fact that I’m wearing a colour I normally wouldn’t. The tortoise shell buttons are huge this season and I love that they run down the front of the dress; I choose to unbutton some from the bottom to show a bit more leg (why not embrace that summer tan and get a bit of leg out!) Teamed with some white pumps and an over-sized denim jacket I love how feminine, yet still casual this outfit is. Praying for a good Summer so I can get the wear out of this little number.

Is there a better way to show off your tan than wearing a fresh crisp white dress? I don’t think so. This is an Asos own brand linen dress with tortoise shell buttons; which I don’t know about you but I’ve been seeing a lot of recently! I feel like as soon as an item has this style of button sewn on, it immediately becomes so much more chic and expensive looking. I can safely say I will be living in this dress. The lightweight linen fabric makes feels so comfortable and can we appreciate that it has pockets…yes pockets (dresses with pockets are always a winner in my eyes)! Teamed with my Topshop straw bag, the tones really compliment each other.

A mix of safari shorts and an embroidered corset which to me screams mermaid vibes, definitely shouldn’t mix but somehow I just love this outfit. After watching HelloOctober’s recent haul on Youtube, I loved the corset top she tried on which I’d previously been eyeing up on Topshop. The top looked so good on her that I thought I’d give it try and it didn’t disappoint.

It’s definitely a more ‘out there’ piece for me, but I love it nonetheless. It’s so easy to dress up or down and I love the intricate embroidery detailing, it’s unlike anything else I’ve seen on the high street. I’ve been wearing it with black trousers and black court heels for evening drinks , with distressed denim shorts for festivals/parties or as shown in the photo for a bbq with family.

Shorts with a paper-bag waist are an essential for me year after year. The way they cinch you in at the waist is so flattering and the elasticated waist band definitely hides that food baby from all those ice creams you’ve been eating on holiday. These are essentially safari shorts with a feminine twist and the neutral sand shade just makes it so versatile to style!
